FO TdF Spinning

I made my goal with time to spare this year!

Finished the singles and wound them onto a plying ball.

Plied up a 2-ply yarn on a Turkish spindle ... it almost didn't fit on there.

154 yds 2-ply - ranges from laceweight to very, very fine fingering.

Traveling Monsters Vol. 7

This is Scrappy.  Scrappy is from Florida, so didn't mind the heat we've been having recently.

I wasn't a very exciting host for Scrappy.  We only went out to run errands.

While doing that I stopped at the local ice cream / seafood place for my favorite, a Raspberry Lime Rickey.

And I showed Scrappy the duck pond there.

Friday Felines Vol 17 2015

This is LadyBug.  She also lives with my in laws.  Another rescue from the shelter.  She is missing a leg, but makes up for it in super happy-go-lucky sweetness.  She is the SWEETEST cat I have ever met, aside from their last diabetic cat with a missing leg - Sheba - I loved that cat too (weird huh - that they ended up with another one??).

This cat is just SO HAPPY to see you.  She immediately purrs and when you stop petting her, she reaches out and taps on your leg - so gently and you just want to pet her FOREVER.  She is such a love bug ... I almost took her home this time ...

Tour de Fleece 2015

I don't have such lofty ideas for this year as I have in past years.  Just getting some spinning done is my goal for this one!

I have a small batt (0.9 oz) of Coopsworth, Alpaca and Silk that is a lot of fun to spin.

I joined Team Mirkwood and am using my Mirkwood spindles.

My lovely Mirkwood spindles!

FO: Little Owl

Pattern: Little Owl by Susan B. Anderson
Yarn: Left overs of Cascade 220 Superwash; Plymouth Encore Colorspun and Knit Picks Swish Worsted
Needles: US 5 (3.75mm) DPNs

This is a cute one - and quick ... I thought it would take 2 days to knit and finish, but just one (maybe 4-5 hours).  No sewing up - kitchener stitch instead.  I think the hardest parts were cutting circles from felt that actually looked like circles and embroidering that beak to look like a beak.

He stands at 4.5" tall.

Very nice pattern - I would knit this one again ... and again ...

Friday Felines Vol 16 2015

This is Frosty.  He lives with my in laws.  They found him during a blizzard (hence the name).  They found him in a snowbank and he had a broken leg.  They rescued him and nursed him back to health.

They checked around to see if he belonged to anyone and nobody claimed him ... so here he is several years later, still with them.  He is just like my Nikoh ... its scary how much they are alike.  He was very skid-dish when they first found him.  Now that he's been loved and cared for many years later, he's still a little quirky, but super sweet and friendly!

Traveling Monsters Vol. 6

This is Tutulli's visit, she hails from Texas.  Quite a ways from here.  We took her up to the White Mountains in New Hampshire.

The weather wasn't great, it rained a bit, but that cooled things off.

We helped my SIL make brownies.

We checked out the pond.

Lots of frogs, tadpoles, variations of tadpole/frog, newts!!  Don't know if I will swim in there again any time soon ...

We played Zombie Dice.

We checked out the bear (we have a smaller version - cub at home - didn't see the real bear(s) this visit.

We popped around the property and checked out the pretty wild flowers.

And the Lunar Moth.

And some other fuzzy moth ...

And some more flowers ...

And then the weather cleared up ...
